   …so all the planning was in vain really because you knew and they knew that the only reasonable thing to do would have been for him to give up….
   To me, that ending is amazing….

   Hey Rollergirl When I said the ending was great I didn’t mean because of what happens to Olivier’s character, I didn’t like that one bit but because of what happens at the very end…and now I have to warn people who never saw this brilliant movie to look away.
   SPOILERS
   Right at the end when Gere and his wife are making plans in the car,speaking of where to move and what to do to get away with it,the camera pans out and you could see that the car happened to be parked near a police station

    I couldn’t agree with you more. I’m so glad to have read your thoughts that scene. I thought the same thing when I saw it. You could almost feel the emotion with her as she wandered back to that event in her mind… truly an incredible moment in film.

    I can’t decide whether I like this film or not BUT, see it anyway for Diane Lane. Lane is absolutely haunting in this role. The scene of her riding home on the train after the first sexual encounter with her lover has to be one of the most AMAZING moments of acting I have seen in a long while. Diane Lane has to be one of the most underrated actresses of the decade IMHO. Thanks for sharing the trailer!
