   Really great job Antti. Still one of my favourite films of all time. If you get the chance, go to Le Mans. It is a seriously a top weekend.

   Ferarri the best? That’s why it lost in 1970! Porsche won the first two positions. Porsche all the way, no one can beat the Gulf Porsches!

   I just saw it advertised on the Turner Classic Movies channel like 2 nights ago, and I think it turns up on the Speed channel sometimes. So it’s out there if you look for it. I’d like to see it again myself.

   Man, this film could’ve been so much better if McQueen had kept his mouth shut and his nose clean. Racing films are always a tough sell for audiences, as great as they can be sometimes.

    Slower and more cumbersome because an year less development than the 917 ….
    However, i think that 917 was a fantastic car but Ferrari is Ferrari!

    512s was a year younger of Porsche917, the car won 1970 le mans so the net. As you know, a year of development more for a car racing is always a difference.
    Despite this, the 512s the next year will impose as rival hard to beat for the 917, legendary car.
    Since 1972 the engine capacity was reduced by order of the international federation to 3000cc,with the result that the project 512s was stopped.
    In saying this I don’t want to denigrate the 917,despite Ferrari means to me always the best.

    The Ferrari’s were not only considerably slower (in a straightline), but they were also quite a bit heavier in 1970 (some 220 lbs or so as I recall–over ten percent!).

    The Ferrari’s were at a severe disadvantage.

    Hardly “the best.”

    I saw this movie when I was 8, it is still the surpream racing movie. It is raw. I am sure Ayrton Senna would have raced at Le Mans if he would have lived.

    forgive me for saying this, the trailer looks better than the movie!! don’t get me wrong, i love the movie, but there’s waiting
    the trailer is full of excitement

    but just like he said, racing is life, everything else before and after……………………….is just waiting.
