   This is an astonishing, almost unbearable movie. I think the scene where Renee walks around his apartment with the pumpkin may be the most uncomfortable thing I’ve ever seen in a movie - and I’ve seen Titicutt Follies. It’s a deeply flawed movie, made, as it is, entirely out of flaws. So what? It’s also not like anything else.

   Thanks for posting this. A reminder to see what looks like a fascinating and important film. Obviously this hits very closely to where some people cannot go. All the more reason to see it.

   I am un inspring film maker. After seeing these true filming ginus I feel in love with it. It is not a chicken or beef film. By that I mean your not thinking what your going to have for dinner when waching it. your in the movie and captured by itself, from the cinematography and the music. A ture art was made.

   who the hell starts their youtube comment by saying “this is such a pretentious overrated piece of masturbatory pap”. just fuckin say “this was a piece of shit”. Its people like you that really dont know shit, I am a PhD student but that doesnt mean I dont listen to other’s opinions, dumbass. If your not enlightened by this REAL story then ur fucked up. Until you have filmed the past 20 years of your life and actually had a interesting story to tell dont give this guys story any ****.

    Which word was “big?” “Fucked” or “pap?” Here’s a big word: DILETTANTE! “Everybody has an opinion” is the most useless, PC aphorism used today. Not looking deeper into this movie is what I did. Follow your own advice and realize this isn’t that enlightening. Any of those words too big?

    Everyone has their own opinion, especially about this movie, because you either love or **** it. But I loved it. I know the ending scene when he laid against his sleeping mother seemed a tiny bit contrived, but in the director’s comments on the dvd he explains, to the audience, that it might seem that he was exploiting his family (pumpkin scene) but in reality he was just filming everyday stuff without the idea of making it into a movie someday. stop trying to use big words and look deeper.

    I’m sorry, but I can’t get over how sooooooooooo self-indulgent this thing is. HE ambushes the people he loves on camera. That’s not good film making. It’s sheer conflict for shock value and sympathy. No purpose but that guy’s own love of watching himself on screen.

    This is such a pretentious overrated piece of masturbatory pap. I sat through the whole thing hoping this guy would do something of value for his fucked up family, and it turns out it was just an egotistical unabridged youtube video. It was never about his mom. It was about getting his *** on camera and in Shortbus, or some shortsighted ego-driven jeremiad. And that last part is soooooo contrived. I can’t believe you don’t see that. Youtube “Frank & Cindy.” It’s “solid gold.”
